And here sitting in a story folder are countless stories I need to finish in the romance category. I should get busy. It’s always interesting to see what the market trends are from one season to another. Thanks.

      • It looks like you’re sitting on a gold mine, Debra 🙂

Take one of the stories out of the folder and get going!

These figures are interesting, but are purely based on the American market. I’ll wager that for the UK in particular, the breakdown would be quite different… especially the percentage of ‘religious/inspirational’ books read, and the locations of the plots.

It’s also interesting to note that the graph that shows words per sentence, question mark numbers, and semi-colon usage through the years, seems to feature only kids’ books for the period from the twentieth century to the present. Surely the numbers shown in these counts would be expected in children’s and young persons’ literature. What are the figures for books aimed at adult readers?

      • Yes, of course, the breakdown will look a bit different for each country. I would wager, however, that Romance would bet at the no.1 place as well in the UK.

Too bad I don’t like romance fiction!
