    • Larry says:

Mary — thanks to YOU for giving me an early shot as a guest poster on your site. That was an invaluable learning experience, and I hope to return for another post if you’ll have me.

  2. Deb Ng says:

Congrats to all the winners, runners up and nominees – and thanks for allowing me the honor of helping to judge this contest!

  3. Raul Sim says:

Congratulations! I scanned all of the nominated blogs, and was expecting some of these finalists.

  4. guest says:

Wow, thanks! I’m excited that The Renegade Writer is on the list. Congrats to all the other winners too!

  5. Always a bridesmaid, never a bride… *grin*

Thanks very much, guys – both for holding this every year and for putting in the time and effort that goes into being a judge. It’s much appreciated.

And woot for everyone! That’s an awesome list and I’m pleased to see so many strong new sites!

Also, a personal congrats to Larry Brooks and Storyfix – I’ve known Larry for a very long time and he certainly deserves the recognition. Well done, you.

  6. Shane Arthur says:

Even though we didn’t place in the final 10, it was great to be in the running. Congrats top 10. You guys deserve it. (I did vote for Larry, though, so I’ll settle for that. :) )

  7. Congratulations to all the winners, especially to the fabulous Judy Dunn at Cat’s Eye Writer. Great writer, great person, what a great well to welcome in a new year!

  8. Brian Clark says:

Congrats to all the winners! This was a really tough thing to judge — all 10 blogs are great.

  9. Larry says:

Wow, this is so cool on so many levels. It’s the same feeling I had — exactly — ten years ago when my phone rang and my agent told me I’d just sold my first novel. Speechless, a little weak in the knees (a feeling I wish for you all). And humbled; the other sites are incredible, and (cliche as it may sound) to be among them is a real honor. Congrats to all who were nominated, for your hard work and the knowledge you share.

Thanks to all who nominated Storyfix, you are appreciated. Thanks to the judges for the close read… I don’t have the most subscribers on the list by a long shot, so your careful take on content means a lot to me. Thanks to Mary, Leo and Brian for allowing me to guest blog on your sites early on (I hope you’ll have me back, too), that was a huge boost in my skills and confidence. And thanks to James at MWP for the same, the mentoring and support made a huge difference. I hope to pay that forward when I can — guest posts on Storyfix are welcomed.

I’m pumped to dive into 2011 to take the site forward, and to work with you all on bringing motivation, community and new skills to writers everywhere. Writing is a challenging and wonderful world, and we need each other.

  10. Carol Tice says:

Glad to see my vote — Men with Pens — on the list too! Congrats to CatsEye, Renegade Writer, and everyone else I know. Sorry everybody couldn’t fit on this list…I enjoyed getting to know all the finalist sites.

And a big thanks to all the readers who nominated my Make a Living Writing blog. I am blown away by your support, and grateful to have the chance to help you earn more from your writing.

I think Mommy gets to go out to dinner tonight!

    • Carol Tice says:

I definitely have to credit A-List Blogger Club, Mary Jaksch and Leo Babauta, Jon Morrow and Sonia Simone at Copyblogger, and Derek Halpern at DIYThemes, who all gave me SO much great advice.

      • Larry says:

I have to echo this… Jon Morrow gave me a pre-launch consulting hour 18 months ago, and his advice was invaluable, and Sonia and I have worked together of many guest posts at Copyblogger, as well as Mary at WTD. So, like Carol (huge congrats to you, by the way), I owe these folks a debt of gratitude.

        • Carol Tice says:

Right back at ya, Larry…FYI I was on your blog yesterday poking around…didn’t even really have it in my head you were a finalist (because I’m slow)…and I was going, “This blog is really awesome…interesting!” So I’m not surprised at all to see you make the list.

  11. Sonia Simone says:

What an awesome list — great to see some old friends on that list, as well as some new faces I’ll need to get to know. :)

Congratulations to all of the finalists and winners!

  12. Judy Dunn says:

I am still in shock. I’m grateful to May and Scott for organizing this huge undertaking. And to the judges, Leo, Brian, Michael and Deb: Wow. Just wow. What a difficult task you had.

Like Larry, I so appreciate the time you took to look closely at content and not just at number of readers/subscribers.

Congratulations to all the finalists and winners. I look forward to adding you to my subscribe list (if you are not already on it!) —and, hopefully, to collaborate with you in the new year.

Also, many thanks to my readers, who took the time to nominate and leave a comment. You are the best!

    • Tammy Redmon says:

Judy this is a well deserved win for you. There are so many people around the world that are touched by your blog and your words every week. Thank you for being an inspiration to the rest of us. I know I pale in comparison to your excellent skill with words, and I marvel at the knowing that my blog has potential to impact the many as you have. Thank you and keep on writing my friend!!

  13. Judy Dunn says:

Damn those typos! Sorry, Mary. : )

  14. Thanks for bringing all these great blogs to the world’s attention – if they were not familiar with them already. I am now following many of them – and am thrilled that Judy Dunn’s blog became one of the top ten.

I learn from Judy each time I read what she posts – and it is making ME a better writer and storyteller – and I am having more FUN, too.

  15. Tshombe says:

Congratulations, Everyone! It’s so awesome to be in the presence of great writers who are recognized publicly for their tireless work.

Like Lori, I want to give a special congratulatory shout-out to the fabulous Judy Dunn, who consistently inspires me with your thoughtful, funny, educational and actionable content.

One question though (which is probably a silly one), wouldn’t these be the top 10 blogs for writers 2010? I’m assuming no one has created (certainly not posted/published) content for 2011! :-)

  16. K.M. Weiland says:

Wow! What a way to make my day. I’m honored to be listed among so many other great blogs. Thank you so much. Congratulations to the other blog owners!

  17. Tyron says:

I would definitely have included http://jakonrath.blogspot.com to that list. It’s the most helpful blog about writing and publishing I’ve ever come across.

  18. Joanna Penn says:

This is a fantastic list – thanks so much Mary! I’m honoured to be on it with the other brilliant bloggers. The writing community is marvelously supportive, and I appreciate the nomination.
2011 will be a brilliant writing year for all of us. Happy Holidays!

  19. Jan O'Daniel says:

What a terrific resource and I’m thrilled to see my favorite, The Renegade Writer, made the top 10%

  20. Azzam Sheikh says:

    Congrats to all the winners.
    You are all worthy xxx

  21. Wow! Those are some really great sites…some I’ve read before, but a few were new to me. So much fun to explore! Congrats to the well-deserving winners.

  22. Tammy Redmon says:

Congratulations to all the Top Ten bloggers of 2010 and especially to my friend Judy Dunn! I am honored to know Judy personally and have worked with her on many occasions. She is as authentic in person as she is on paper. Her giving spirit and drive to promote others forward are at the center of her every day work.

May you all experience continued success in the coming year as you continue to impact people around the world with your words.

  23. Wow congrats to you all! This is a big deal for all of you – awesome!! Maybe someday I can make a list like this! Look forward to meeting more writers! :)

  24. Leanne says:

These links are the way to a wealth of knowledge for this emerging author. Congratulations to all.

  26. Kasym says:

    Congratulations to all.

  27. Laura says:

I’ve been reading Debbie Ohi since InkSpot. Good to see her recognized again. She does great work, and the cartoons make me laugh.

    Congratulations to all the winners.

  28. Sherif O. S says:

Firstly congrats to all the finalist and a great work by the judges you guys rock. Secondly I felt greatful and lucky as a young blogger to have list of great blogs to learn from. Thanks

  29. Colin says:

Congrats to the winners, and thanks for the list. I hadn’t heard of all of these so I’ll have some fun going through them.

  30. Thank you so much, everyone! I didn’t get word of this until this morning when I got back from my holiday, and I am humbled to be included in such illustrious company. What a way to start the new year!

I know there were some great people in the top 20, and it must have been hard to make that final decision. My hat is off to all of those on this list and to the runners-up, as well. Joanna’s right—our online writing community is a wonderful, supportive place. Thank you to all of you who make this true.

  31. I’m late to replying {because I was so busy trying to keep up with all those new readers you sent my way!}.

But I just want to add to everything here.

I am HONORED to be on this list. Sometimes I wonder if this was a mistake. I mean I’m just a guy trying to get his first book published! Wow, do be with such amazing bloggers with such great content. I am already becoming each one of my fellow winner’s biggest fans. Seriously guys, you need to check each one of these sites out. The bloggers did an amazing job.

THANK YOU SO MUCH TO THE JUDGES!

Thank you Write to Done. Thank you Leo, who’s blog didn’t inspire mine, but ever since I found out about it a couple of months ago still remains an inspiration to me. I strongly believe in everything he says.

I’m getting to know the people at Copyblogger, too. Who are amazing! I already know you guys are going to guide the way to my future growth.

I can’t thank you enough. You work so hard on these blogs, you know, and you work most of the time without much but the warmth and love of your readers. Without them I couldn’t have made it this far.

Thanks most of all to my regular readers, and to all my new readers. Can’t wait to meet more of you!

  32. Eno Udoibe says:

    Congratulations! What an awesome achievement!

  33. Steve Davis says:

I was following some of these blogs already, I’m now following the rest. Great post. Thanks for sharing.

  34. AnthonySouls says:

  35. Judy Cullins says:

I clicked the link on you email blurb to enter he contest for an answer to my blog question.

I want more readers and requests for blog guest articles. I have around 4000 subscribers a month now.Would like to double that for my book coaching business that helps business people write, publish and market their books using social media.

    My blog URL is http://www.bookcoaching.com

  36. Kathy says:

I was unable to find anything that explains how the bidding process works. Are we to pay to write here?

    Thank you,

    Kathy

  37. I found Jenn Mattern’s blog pretty useful. Then Freelance Writing Gigs was not bad either. In fact. I follow a whole lot of them. You can find them in my blogroll.
