Welcome to Write To Done

Tune in Tomorrow: “Ask Leo” Your Blogging and Writing Questions

Tomorrow we’ll have a reader question-and-answer session with Leo Babauta (of Zen Habits and Write To Done fame) for any of you writers or bloggers with questions for him. You can ask Leo your questions in the comments, and he’ll reply to them all as quickly as possible.

Leo will start answering questions here on Write To Done at 5:00 p.m. Eastern time on Thursday (Nov. 20, 2008) … he has committed to answering questions for about 4 hours or so — and then he’ll cut it off!

For those of you unfamiliar with Leo, he’s the creator of Top 100 blog Zen Habits (with 75,000+ subscribers) and the founder of Write To Done, the publisher of the popular productivity ebook Zen To Done, and soon to be published author (his book The Power of Less comes out on Dec. 30, 2008).

We hope you’ll join us then in asking Leo your blogging and writing questions!

  1. The question I would love Leo to answer is this: If you launched a new blog tomorrow, how would you go about getting readers in the first two weeks?

Thank you for doing this Q&A Leo, and good luck with launch of the book.

  2. My question: How did you get your blogs this successful?

I stumbled on ZenHabits and I loved it. It’s awesome.

  3. My question: How to continue with my blog if the personal development niche is not so popular? The problem is that in my country the personal development niche of the internet is not so developed and also not searched. Have you ever been in my situation?

PS. I love your writing. You have something special on it. Thank you for all articles and keep doing it.

  4. Cindy

How do you know if you have what it takes to be a writer? Can anyone be a writer?

Hi guys … sorry for the confusion … but the Q&A won’t be starting until tomorrow. We’ll put up a different post for that, so you can post these questions in the comments of that post. Again, my apologies!

I’ll see you tomorrow and look forward to answering your questions then!

  6. Hi Leo!

Can I just get a clarification of the time?

I posted an announcement for my blog’s readers too and wanted to confirm your meaning of “Eastern Time”. I’m in Australia and Eastern Time could mean Eastern States Time (AU) (GMT +10 +1DLS) or Eastern Standard Time (US) (GMT -5). I’m assuming the latter but I hope you can confirm. :-)

    Looking forward to it!

  7. Hi Leo,

Just confirming that New York would be eastern central time?
I have calculated that the Q&A will start at 700am friday 21st november for residents of PERTH, WESTERN AUSTRALIA :)

    Hi Leo,

I’m in the military and am keeping a video blog that I believe is relevant for promoting the Marine Corps to potentially interested Officer Candidates. Unfortunately, I am required to password protect my posts, so it’s impossible for me to promote this source of information. (They don’t want video falling into the wrong hands.) Since it’s supposed to be for friends and family and signing up for the video service that hosts my content is cumbersome, what do you recommend I do to accelerate the potential for virally spreading word about my blog when, by default, it is not easy to share its content?

  9. *grins and waves at Jessica* We could be neighbours. ;-) Thanks for wrapping your head around the time conversion and it’s good to know I’m not the only Perthite who needs to clarify these things. lol

Hi guys … yeah, it’s Eastern U.S. time. I’m actually on Guam, which I believe is about an hour behind Australia’s Eastern time because of DLS.

So, basically 5:00 p.m. New York time on Thursday, to clear that up. That would be Friday morning in Australia.

For those who have asked questions in this comment thread, please repost them in tomorrow’s thread and I’ll do my best to answer them!

So if you’re still checking comments on this post … head over to the latest post and ask your questions in the comments there!

  12. My first blog is a patchwork. I’d like to change that. What are your thoughts on giving focus to an existing blog that has a bit of many things?
